Gil Polanco  was born in Florida, potty-trained in Italy, and educated in the Great State of Texas.  A graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. He served in the United States Navy for twenty years.  He helped form a power trio(The Whitinos) and a Navy band (Safe Working Load) as drummer and singer, performing in Jebel Ali & Dubia in the United Arab Emirates, Perth Australia, Hobart Tasmania, and the Discovery Channel Special "Fortress At Sea."

He returned to San Antonio in 1996.  He met David Rodriguez and soon joined Blue Bonnet Plague.  He and David formed True Stories in 1997.

Gil's other projects include playing for The Lesti Huff Band, The Trebel Makers, and The Whitinos.  He has played with Eddie & The All-Niters, Los #3 Dinners, Suprise Package, Julianne Banks, and The Swamp Angels.

Gil plays a Ludwig Birch Classic drum kit for most shows as well as the Gretsch Catalina Elite.  He is pictured here playing the Mana Cajon which was custom made by Manuel Navarro.
